TB KampungTentang bulan is a special movie due to its storyline, it all started with a beautiful lady coming out from the airport terminal coming home to attend a wedding. Who’s wedding you may ask? Well at the end of the movie you will know :)

In her taxi ride back to her ‘kampung’, she took out a group picture of children and smiled, this is where the whole movie actually starts as she flash back to her childhood days in her ‘kampung’. They are a bunch of very close friend, 5 friends altogether sharing their everyday life together and I mean everything except when they are at home, sleeping. Attending the same school, in the same class, even their ‘ngaji lessons’ are done together. As ‘kampung’ kids they will surely, play football, ride their bikes around, jump into the river and hang out at their usual spot every night together looking at the moon and promises each other to be friends forever. TB ZurinaSo you can imagine how close they are but there’s one special thing about this bunch of kids, among them there is a girl. You will surely remember the ‘tomboy’ of your ‘kampung’ believing she can do what boys can do!

Shahila (Ila) is the girls’ name. She’s the most strong minded (degil) in the group. Then there is the big man of the group commonly nicknamed Bulat! He’s big, but he’s soft hearted and faints at the sight of blood. Budi, he’s the brain of the group. Good in his studies but he’s asthmatic. Always reaching out for his inhaler whenever he’s nervous. Surely there must be the gangster in the group, the brave one, he is Ketot. You guessed right, he’s the shortest in the group but ‘kecil-kecil cili api’ type. How can we forget about the hero of the group, he’s the handsome and clever one, Asmawi (Mawi). He dreams to be an astronaut!

TB GroupOne day this strong bond that they had was tested by the arrival of a new kid in school. Her name is Zurina (Ina), a beautiful girl who melts everyones heart except for Ila. She’s intelligent and soft spoken the typical ‘matair’ type. As boys will be boys they wanted to win Ina’s heart and tried radical ways to attract her attention. Some of them we’re very nostalgic like the love letter with scented powder in one scene which makes me smile. (I did that before!) As time passes by, the bond seems to loosen and Ila had to leave to KL to pursue her studies and she left in a hurry.

I love this movie for it’s content, the memories of living in a ‘kampung’, having close friends, also it reminds me most of my primary school days. You will have laughs for sure! There some sad moments too! In the end it’s a wonderful movie to watch, except for its poor sound quality. So do buy the VCD at your local store! It’s a shame I only watched it now because it was released in December 2006. Better late than never :)
