Movie Review : High School Musical 3 : Senior Year

High School Musical 3 is basically exactly the same as the two previous films, combining likeable stereotypes and bright colours with energetic song and dance numbers – it’s well made and entirely watchable, but it won’t really appeal to anyone outside its target audience.

With the phenomenal success of the first two High School Musical movies (which were made-for-DVD), it was only a matter of time before the adventures of Troy, Gabriella and the gang hit the big screen. In this third instalment, East High heartthrob Troy (Zac Efron) and his girlfriend Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) worry about being separated from each other as college approaches.

Movie Review : Tropic Thunder

Tropic Thunder is an enjoyable comedy with terrific performances and several hilarious gags, but the plot loses its way halfway through and it runs out of steam before the end. So, read on to find out more…

Action hero Tugg Speedman (Ben Stiller), fat-suit-loving fart gag supremo Jeff Portnoy (Jack Black) and Oscar-winning Australian method actor Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Jr) are uniting for the first time to make a Vietnam epic for studio boss Les Grossman (Tom Cruise). They dutifully pile into the jungle along with a neurotic British director (Steve Coogan), the grizzled author of the book the film’s based on (Nick Nolte) and an over-enthusiastic explosives expert (Danny McBride).

Movie Review : In Bruges

In Bruges is a hugely enjoyable, frequently hilarious comedy-thriller with a superb script and terrific performances from Gleeson and Farrell. Coming to Singapore soon. Read on…

It’s written and directed by Martin McDonagh, In Bruges stars Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell as Ken and Ray, two Irish hitmen who are ordered to hide out in Bruges, Belgium after a job in London goes badly wrong. Told to sit tight and await further instructions from their boss (Ralph Fiennes as Harry), the pair attempt to entertain themselves: Ken decides to explore the city’s rich medieval history, while Ray falls for an attractive local (Clemence Poesy as Chloe) and befriends a sex-crazed dwarf actor (Jordan Prentice).

Movie Review : RocknRolla

This movie title sound wickedly fun :) RocknRolla, first impression I thought its a musical or some music based movie but then when I saw the poster. I had to see this one to satisfy my curiousity. Read on…

After a couple of unknown (unpopular) movies, director Guy Ritchie wisely returns to Lock, Stock territory with RocknRolla, a multi-character thriller set in London’s criminal underworld. Tom Wilkinson plays Lenny, an old school gangster who gets involved in a shady property deal with Abramovich-like Russian billionaire Uri (Karel Roden), only for Uri’s priceless “lucky painting” to go missing while under Lenny’s care.

Movie Review : The House Bunny

This is one of those flicks that you almost feel bad liking as a critic but I could not help laughing throughout this entire film. Anna Faris just does something for me and she really shined in this film; taking a leading role and just blowing audiences away.

Who would have thought a movie that was as cliché and unoriginal as this would make my cry laughing. There were moments where I was shouting out obscenities because of how funny the flick was. The big thing to know is that the movie starts off awful.
