Despite strong performances, impressive effects and a handful of decent action scenes, Jon Favreau’s eagerly-awaited Iron Man sequel is, unfortunately, not as good as the first film, thanks to a painfully slow, relatively action-free middle section and the occasional mis-step.
Directed by Jon Favreau, Iron Man 2 is the eagerly-awaited sequel to 2008′s Marvel superhero smash hit. Having revealed his secret identity to the world, billionaire Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr) comes under increasing pressure from the US government to turn over the “Iron Man weapon”. However, Stark faces a far more immediate threat when he discovers that the Iron Man suit is slowly killing him by poisoning his blood.

Supermarket clerk and aspiring musician Arthur (Robert Pattinson) is struggling with a self-diagnosed “quarterlife crisis” brought on by emotionally distant parents (Michael Irving and David Mamet regular Rebecca Pidgeon) and a general sense of aimlessness. When he writes a letter explaining his situation to Dr. Levi Ellington (Powell Jones), the Canadian author of self-help book “It’s Not Your Fault,” Arthur is surprised to hear that the doctor plans to make a personal house call to help him out.
Originally just a twee British indie that won a minor prize at the 2008 Slamdance film festival, “How to Be” suddenly became something more when Pattinson turned into an overnight sensation last year with his role in blockbuster vampire romance “Twilight.” Still, the expectations for this movie’s appeal aren’t too high—it’s bypassing theaters for an exclusive On Demand premiere from IFC Festival Direct.

Naturally, Dave immediately gets beaten to a pulp but thanks to YouTube he quickly catches the attention of both the city and local gangster Frank D’Amico (Mark Strong), who thinks Kick-Ass is responsible for killing several of his henchmen.

“Date Night” stars a dream pairing for fans of Star World must-see TV: “The Office’s” Steve Carell and “30 Rock’s” Tina Fey as New Jersey suburbanites who, in a case of mistaken identity, find themselves mired in a blackmail conspiracy that goes all the way to the top. As inspired as their casting might seem, however, it’s also one of the things about the film that doesn’t quite work. Not that “Date Night” is not funny. It is the comedy slathered on like homemade frosting to hold this crumbling boxed cake of a plot together.
