A poetry performance in celebration of love.

Held in conjunction with the national Malay Language Month in July, this performance is to highlight the beauty of the Malay language, interesting our audience, especially the younger ones, to the use of good Malay.

Celebrities and artistes in the Malay community will gather to recite and perform a selection of their favourite poetries from respected writers. They will also be reciting and performing their own original writings, showing the good verses are used in songs today. Works from literary icons Masuri S N and Khadijah Hashim will be featured. Fronting this performance is Adi Rahman, a producer/presenter with Radio Warna and a champion of the Malay language. He will be reciting his original work “Bumi”, last presented at the Anugerah Planet Muzik 2007. He will be joined by local singers Hyrul Anuar and Roze with their renditions of new and evergreen songs.

Inception opens with a dream within a dream. Then it gets complicated. Complicated is a mild word to use here.

Writer-director Christopher Nolan is messing with our heads once more, as he did in his breakout film, Memento, and the excellent Hollywood entertainments that followed (The Prestige and the most recent Batman : The Dark Knight). This is a filmmaker who plays big, big sets, big effects and rare to most blockbusters big ideas.

This is a silly titled movie, so watch it with fun in mind and don’t be too critical of it. I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy the movie very much. Hot Tub Time Machine, how crude and corny does that sound for a movie title yet it’s filled with warmth of friendship between four friends.

In this spunky 3D cartoon, Gru (voiced by Steve Carrell) is an accomplished thief with a very large need to be recognized as special. He zooms around town in a tank-like vehicle and lives in a mansion with Dr. Nefario (Russell Brand), a madcap inventor, and hundreds of “minions,” cute little yellow creatures who like to play while they labor away for Gru and his oversized ego. When a major competitor named Vector (Jason Segel) pulls off a major steal of a pyramid from Egypt, the protagonist knows there’s trouble on the horizon.
